Fleeting Fantasies

An Escapist’s Poem

Seeing the birds over the distant sky
With those wondrous wings, I would love to fly.
Flapping, soaring, and doing somersaults up high,
The law of gravity, I could very much defy.

Hugging the clouds, smiling at the sun,
The majestic earth, I would gaze upon.
Kissing the stars, having nothing but fun,
Not worrying about anything in the long run.

I wish I could grow those wondrous wings,
So that I could escape all the miserable things.
Take flight and be free, with no attached strings,
Away from the repercussions that a bad situation brings.

I guess it only comes down to this,
At least in writing, I could get out of this deep abyss.
To the real world, I have to go back now,
Face my life, even if I don’t exactly know how.
