Ahoy there, mateys! We’re now about to approach the end of another great week. And so before it entirely ends, here’s yet another deed (for us to take note of and do) to help us live our lives wonderfully and purposefully!
Ahhh…what a very nice deed. Reading it made me remember the gifts that I personally created for my friends last Christmas. Sooo ummmm, in line with our deed for the week, let me tell you a little something about that…
Christmas season of 2008: Who would ever forget how so many people went gaga over “Twilight”? (But ermmm, count me out on that. While the world kissed Stephenie Meyer’s feet, I technically snobbed all the hype and frenzy that the fans had over her universe of “shining shimmering vampires”…well, snobbed most of it at least. Haha!). Along the sides of the whole mania, there I was…an empty piece of a shell, just minding my own world…having a hard time thinking of something special and unique to give to my friends for our little Christmas get-together. And with the Twilight saga being the “it” thing at that time of the year, I decided that something related to “it” would be a hit to them. Staring at the cover art of the first book (Twilight) over the internet to at least provide me with an idea of sorts, that was when the light bulb at the top of my head went on.
And so I captured photographs of twenty-something objects, each being a symbolic representation of how I see my friends or of some event that I fondly remember them with in the past. Now where’s the Twilight connection with that, if you may ask? Well, the manner that I employed to shoot them was through framing the objects like how the apple was framed with a hand on the Twilight book cover. After which, I made the post-processing in Photoshop to conjure up a somewhat Twilight-ish feel to ‘em.
To give you a better picture of what I did, here’s a collage of the photographs that I shot and processed:
Now again, if you may ask, how does sharing all this hoopla connect to what the card says? Ummm…well, not only did I give my friends these photographs, but each photo also went with a letter that I wrote specifically for the person I gave ‘em to…
…and so the spirit of “giving letters”, “sending out a message”, and “making someone feel special” went with it. ‘Nuff said.
This time around, we can all participate in doing this deed with just a few presses and clicks of our keys and buttons (thanks to the invention of computers and mobile phones) so it would not be a pretty daunting task anymore, unlike how it was, a hundred-something years ago! LOL.
Simply by e-mailing our friends and loved ones, dropping them a “hi” or “hello” on their Facebook profiles, or sending them a text message or whatever…through these, we could all celebrate our relationship with them, and we could all bask in the afterglow of doing something good (…whatever that means. Haha!).
So yeah, write a friend, a relative, or someone a letter…’cause, ’cause…’cause it’s GOOOOOOD! Hahaha. Well I guess that’s it for now. Hope you got something from this. Here’s to a brighter and better world for us all! Enjoy what’s left of your day. See you next week for our next deed! God bless.

-sobs on floor-
it looks so coooooolll.
-rolls around wailing-
lucky that all your best friends are twilight fans, though. i wonder what you’d have given the odd one out had one of them snobbed the hype as you did.
seriously, though. the photos were thoughtful, pure genius and jealousy-enducing (on my part at least) they’re so cool. you’re friends are sooo lucky.
-screaches like a banshee-
i wonder what you’d have taken a photo of, though, had i been one of your friends there..
-scratches head-
Hahah. Naaalala mo yung promise ko sayo that I’ll make you the caricature-ish version of you? Well, I’ll be working on that soon. Hehe. And if it would make you feel better, I’ll make you a twilighty thingy too. Let me just think of something to remind me of you, okay? Hmmmm… Haha! Basta, makikita mo nalang.
P.S. Not all my friends are Twilight fans, but since it was a gift…like, who are they to complain?! I’d kick their carcasses if they did. Haha!
oooh yes. ^_____^ woooow so i’m getting 2 from you now? aaack, you spoil me. XD hihihi. fankyoooh, fankyoooh.
P.S. taking out the “carc” and kicking what’s left behind might work too. hihii.
Yes, you will be getting 2 from me… Haha! Yer welcome, yer welcome.
P.S. Ooooh…sweet mother of pearls! Just thinking about your suggestion makes me feel it as well. I mean like, that’s got to hurt! BIG TIME. LOL.
